Midwood Books began in 1957 and continued until 1962. Their strategy was aimed at the male market, competing with other lines such as Beacon Books. Their covers featured outstanding artwork, primarily by the prolific Paul Rader. Their early novels contained a number of well-known authors who wrote under pseudonyms. These included Lawrence Block, Donald Westlake, Robert Silverberg and Richard Geis. In 1964, Midwood joined with Tower Books of the World Publishing Company to form the Midwood-Tower line. |
